SUMMARY:Spring Tree Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Lee Manor Society’s 2025 Spring Tree Walk will take place at 11am on Saturday May 31. The walk will start from Lochaber Hall at the junction of Manor Lane and Lochaber Road. It will take in nearby streets before moving to Manor House Gardens. Topics to be covered include the trees’ origins\, the uses to which their wood\, bark and fruits are put\, how they got their names and the religious myths often attached to them. The walk will be led by Charles Batchelor and David Ford.\nThe walk is free but donations are welcomed.

The AGM is a chance to hear about the Society’s activities throughout the year and its plans for the future. \nThe Annual Review of the year will be available at the meeting but you can download it here.  \nThe Finance report for the year 2024/25 will also be presented at the meeting. You can download it here. \nThe guest speaker will be Paul Wright\, historian for the Blackheath Society.  He will be talking about the post-war redevelopment of Lee. Illustrated by photographs taken by the then vicar of St Margaret’s Church. The area covered is mainly to the north of the Lee High Road which went from poor Victorian and pre-Victorian housing to a mix of council and private developments. This in the context of  the redevelopment of Leegate and the Lee Green crossroads.

DESCRIPTION:The Church Warden James Murdoch writes:\n“We are proceeding with the  organisation of a short ceremony celebrating the completion of the rebuilding of  the wall\,  followed by refreshments\, at 11:45am\, after our 10:30 service\, on Sunday 22 March.\n\nThe short 11:45 ceremony will be followed by fizz and cake refreshments as well as tea and coffee probably back in the Building. If weather permits we may serve the fizz outside.\n\nThe 11:45am event is open to all\, although everyone is also welcome to attend the 10:30 am service.
