The new Vicar of the Church of the Good Shepherd is licensed and inducted
This letter comes from the Church warden James Murdoch
Dear friends, neighbours, and members of our wider community,
It is with deep joy and heartfelt thanksgiving that we invite you to join us for a very special moment in the life of our parish.
On Wednesday 20th May 2026 at 7pm, The Reverend Christopher Henriette will be licensed and inducted as Vicar of The Church of the Good Shepherd with St Peter, Lee, by The Rt Revd Alastair Cutting, Bishop of Woolwich. The service will take place at The Church of the Good Shepherd, Handen Road, SE12 8NR, and will be followed by refreshments for all.
This service marks the beginning of a new chapter in our shared journey of faith. Many of you will know Chris from his ministry among us as Assistant Curate, since his ordination in 2023. Chris has served this parish with warmth, imagination, and a deep love for people. We now celebrate his appointment as our new Vicar, as announced by the Diocese of Southwark last year.
Together, we look forward in hope and expectation—trusting that God will continue to shape us into a community where all are welcomed, all are valued, and all are invited to grow in faith, justice, and joy.
To help us plan catering for the reception, please RSVP to office@goodpeter.org.uk.
During the service, there will be a formal welcome from members of the community on behalf of organisations/community groups. If you would l like to offer a welcome on behalf of your group, please do let us know.
We warmly welcome all clergy, deacons, and Licensed Lay Ministers who are joining us and wish to robe that the vestments for the service are as follows:
- Alb and stole for clergy
- Seasonal stole colour: White or gold (Eastertide)
- Deacons are invited to vest in alb and diagonal stole in the seasonal colour
- Licensed Lay Ministers are invited to robe in alb or cassock and surplice, with blue scarf
If you are attending but not robing, please join the congregation in the main body of the church.
Clergy and ministers who are robing are asked to arrive in good time and gather in the Parish room, where sidespeople will assist with directions.
With every blessing, The Churchwardens and PCC The Church of the Good Shepherd with St Peter, Lee
