Scenes from the 1960s in the Sam Mendes’ four-film epic about the Beatles will be filmed in Lee on November 3rd. The production company has alerted residents that it will be filming around the Dacre Arms from 11 am until midnight. It’s given residents a map to show they plan to close Belmont Park and Kingswood Place for the day.

The publicity flyer distributed by the film company says they will be filming with 30 extras, “period action vehicles” and possibly lighting machines.
Although the flyer doesn’t name the production, it is branded “Clover” which is the code name and official working title used by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Neal Street Productions for Sir Sam Mendes’ ambitious The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, a series of four interconnected biographical feature films exploring the individual lives and careers of The Beatles. They star Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Harris Dickinson, Joseph Quinn. The films are due for release in April 2028.
Coincidently, on November 10th the Lee Manor Society is staging a talk by historian Paul Wright about the famous rock and pop stars who spent time in Lee over the year. Tickets are free – book here.
